This super easy 30 minute meal combines the best of Vietnamese street food and vegan cuisine. Serve with our Papaya Slaw recipe for extra flavor.

Lemongrass Tofu

Lemongrass Tofu (also known as đậu hũ sả) is one of my favorite ways to prepare tofu. This super easy 30 minute meal combines the best of Vietnamese street food and vegan cuisine.

Ingredients

  1. Dry off any excess water from the tofu by wrapping in paper towel and lightly pressing with a plate.
  2. Heat a medium pan with 1/3 of the oil to medium high heat. Add the tofu to the pan with a tong and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown all around. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to the pan and cook the shallot and bell pepper on medium heat for 5 minutes until translucent.
  4. Add the turmeric, lemon grass, chilies and cook for 2 minutes on high heat.
  5. Add the tofu and cook for 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients and cook until the water has fully evaporated (about 2 minutes), and the oil starts to bubble up.
  6. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve on its own or on top of rice or noodles.
  8. Garnish with additional chilies and lime wedge
